Joe Lewis, Jr.

Joe Lewis, Jr., 48, of Middleburg, FL passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 in Chessington, Surrey, London, England. He was born to Joe Sr. and Eleanor Lewis in Jacksonville, FL on February 23, 1961. Mr. Lewis honorably served his nation in The United States Navy and retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Mr. Lewis married his beloved Elaine Johnston in June of 1986 and they traveled the world together throughout his military career. They considered Florida as well as Guam and London their homes. Mr. Lewis was extremely creative and loved designing and inventing, but above all else, he loved his family and grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, father, and papa. His memory will be forever cherished by his family. Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Elaine Lewis; children: Kelly Lamb and Stephanie McNair; his mother, Eleanor Lewis; 6 grandchildren: Kajeda, Kalaina, Kayla, Antony, Allan, and Andrew; and many brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. The family will receive friends in the chapel of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 23, 2009 officiated by Chaplain Rory J. Calhoun.
