James E. Hill passed away Monday, March 23, 2009. He was born in Jacksonville, FL,
January 5, 1927. He was the son of Frank C. and Ruth Jones Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jewell Wilford Hill, and his son, Joel L. Hill. He is
survived by his second wife of 29 years, Betty Valentine Turner Hill, one son, James E.
Hill, Jr., and seven grandchildren: Jeremy, Judson, Kara, Jacob, Kaylee, Jaron, and Kenzie Hill. The following stepchildren survive: Pamela G. Turner, Donald G. Turner, Terry L. Turner, John W. Turner, and Becky T. Johnson. Fourteen step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren also survive. He served in the United States Army from 1945-1947 as a part of the Army of Occupation in Germany, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1950, and was an active lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many church positions during his life time, including as president of the Atlanta Georgia temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1995-1998, with his wife Betty as matron. There are many relatives and loving friends who blessed his life. Funeral services will be held at the LDS church, 461 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL. Visitation and viewing will be held in the church Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon in the church. Interment will follow in Peoria Cemetery. The family expresses their love and appreciation for all the kindnesses rendered during this period of time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund at your local Ward.
