Dorothy “Dot” Ellen Mooneyham, age 76, was called to Heaven on December 14, 2015. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on July 31, 1939, and was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and Orange Park, FL. After graduating from Jackson High School, she married Fred Mooneyham, Sr., who was an Engineer with the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department until his death in 1992. She enjoyed volunteering for charities and organizing activities with other firefighter wives as a member of the JFRD Firefighters Wives Club. She was also involved for many years with the Morocco Shrine Center as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, helping crippled and burned children receive specialized care. When her children were younger, she was involved with the Orange Park Athletic Association as a cheerleader sponsor and was also on the board of the Orange Park High School Football Boosters. Dorothy worked for the Duval County School Board as a book keeper for 31 years until her retirement from Oak Hill Elementary. She is survived by her daughter, Patti Mooneyham, Son Fred (Sjoukje) Mooneyham, Jr., Grandsons Jack and Luke, Brother Kerry (JoAnn) McElhaney, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and “adopted kids” that she loved as family. A funeral will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Jacksonville Firefighter Hall, 625 Stockton St, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Visitation will begin at 1:00 followed by the service at 2:00. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Masonic Gardens, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
