Juanita Wilson Barrington

March 24, 1934 — April 8, 2009

Juanita Wilson Barrington, 75, after an extended illness, passed into the hands of Our Lord, April 8th 2009, surrounded by her family. Beloved and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Juanita, a seventh generation Clay Countian, was born March 24, 1934, to LeRoy and Essie Wilson in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Except for a short time in West Palm and Jacksonville Beach, she lived her life in the Green Cove Springs area. She graduated with the Class of ‘52 from Clay High School, where she was a cheerleader and member of several clubs. She worked for The Bank of Green Cove and Vaness Buick, before marrying Frank Barrington. She later took over the contract mail route for Hibernia Route, from her cousin Mr. Marvin Harris, which she ran for many years. Juanita always enjoyed her customers and always greeted them with her famous smile. She loved many creative endeavors, but especially gardening, photography, cooking, sewing, ceramics, and surfing the web. She volunteered in many school and church activities for her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Her faith in our Heavenly Father carried her through all of life’s challenges and treasures. She will greatly missed by family & friends, but has left many wonderful memories to cherish until we once again meet. “Mema” is predeceased by her father, LeRoy Wilson; husband, Francis L. “Frank” Barrington; grandson J.T. Hellard; grandparents, Ardell & Bessie (Wise) Daniels, Ellis & Laura (Hogarth) Wilson. She is survived by her mother, Essie Wilson, Green Cove Springs , two daughters & son-in-laws, Deborah & Richard Callicott, Cynthia & Jeff Hellard, Green Cove Springs; Grandchildren, Jennifer Clark, Tiffany Burch, Orange Park, Olivia Robbins, Jacksonville, Cody & Terri Hellard, Ashley Hellard, Green Cove Springs, Jesse & Roselyn Hellard, Jacksonville; Great-grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriel, & Katelynn Robbins, Jacksonville, Caden Hellard, Green Cove Springs, Cameron, McKensie, Caleb , & Maddy , Jacksonville; Uncle, John & Juanita Daniels, Jacksonville; 1st Cousins, JoAnne & Daryl Lafitte, Dallas, Texas, Seleta Thomas, Gainesville, Elsie Wilson, Ocala, Dale & Pam Wilson, Max & Debbie Wilson, Elaine & John Rhodes, Linda Chesser, Green Cove Springs, Eddie Chesser, Jacksonville, and many other dear cousins. Family visitation will be from 5-6 PM, with public visitation from 6-8 PM, Monday, April 13th, 2009, at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Graveside service, officiated by Rev. Charlie Hunt, will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 14th 2009, Hickory Grove Cemetery, Green Cove Springs. Please sign the family’s online register book at www.broadusraines.com.
