Bessie Caroline Prior

Bessie Caroline Prior, 77, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away January 13, 2016. She was born on April 28, 1938 in Grundy, VA to parents John and Mary Deel. Mrs. Deel had worked as a waitress and cook in the restaurant business and will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Richard Prior; by her daughter, Faye Lishman and by her siblings, Garland, Kermit, Dorsey, Oliver and Arthur Deel, Martha Emojean Yates, Katherine Church, Rebecca Stewart, Sarah Arlene Dixon; Sidney Looney and Janie Deel. Survivors include her children, Barbara Hollifield (Carl), Kasandra Prior and Mary Hinkle; sister, Flornie Deel; grandchildren, Nelson, Nicholas, Kristen, Renee, April, Alison, Kristal, Brittani, Jake and Brandon and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, January 18, 2016 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church with Elder Terry Fuller and Elder Doug McCarty officiating. Interment will follow in Little Ruth Cemetery.
