Leonard R. Hall, Minister, 98, of Penney Farms, FL, passed away on January 18, 2016. He was born in Paton, Iowa on November 4, 1917 to the late Lester L. and Mabel E. (Hicks) Hall. He came to Penney Farms in 1998. He lived in Richmond, IN, was a Quaker and member of First Friends Meeting in Richmond. Leonard had a Bachelors degree in Economics and English from Drake University, completed at William Penn College in Oskaloosa, IA, Masters of Divinity Colgate-Rochester School of Divinity in 1945 and in 1942 Recorded Minister in Religious Society of Friends. He was a pastor and acting pastor of many meetings in Earlham, IA, Macedon, NY, New Castle, IN, Hagerstown, IN and after retiring in 1983, Cincinnati, Ohio Friends. Leonard worked tirelessly in administrative, executive roles with the 5 years Meeting of Friends in the Richmond, IN Central Office, where he was executive and general editor for the Board of Christian Education, Friends United Meeting. He was most proud of his administrative service, professorship and successful development of the first and only Quaker School of Theology, Earlham School of Religion at Earlham College Richmond, IN. Leonard was a loving and active husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his wife, 6 children, 7 grandchildren and 4 (almost 5) great-grandchildren. His life will be celebrated. We will miss Leonard most of all. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Zula Z. (Johnston) Hall and his wife, Portia G. (Grover) Hall and his sister, Geneva Morris. Leonard is survived by his son, Arlo M. Hall (Leslie); step-son, John Luck (Mary Jane); daughters, Gwenth I. Jacques (Bob), Karen L. Hall-O’Brien and Iris M. Thielen-Johnston; step-daughter, Jan O’Conner; grandchildren, Ben Sedgwick, John Sedgwick, Zuleida Herba (Matt), Mizar Kamiar (Arash), Nick Hall-O’Brien (Jennifer), Tim Hall-O’Brien (Liza) and step-grandchild, Katie Luck; great-grandchildren, Zeke Herba, Talya Hall-O’Brien, Leona Herba, Isaiah Anderson, Iraina Clark and coming soon, great-grandchild Kamiar.
