Joyce passed away April 13, 2009 at 2:40 pm in the Moosehaven Life Care Center at the age of 88. She was born to Preston and Lottie Blanton on February 17, 1921 in Conway, SC. Joyce married Louis Germain Lasne (known to everyone as Frenchy) on February 16, 1944 in Charleston, SC. She met Louis doing volunteer work for the USO during World War II while his ship was at the Charleston Shipyards for repairs. They wed shortly after meeting and after the war he returned to the United States from France. She returned to France with him many times over the years to visit his family. They had five children, three boys Louis, John and Charles, two daughters, Joyce and Lottian. She was a loving grandmother and great grandmother of as she would say “There’s just to many to count.” Joyce moved to Jacksonville in the early 70’s from Folly Beach, S.C. She was a teacher at North Charleston High School and briefly taught at a private Christian School in Jacksonville before retiring. She became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose in 1978 when her husband joined Lodge #2352. Joyce and Louis came to Moosehaven on June 5, 2007 where they have resided for 2 years. She is survived by her three sons, Louis (Brandy)Lasne of Kansas City, KS, John(Donna)Lasne of Taylor, SC and Charles Lasne, Jacksonville, FL, two daughters, Joyce Scott of Yulee, FL and Lottian Mousseau of Green Cove Springs, FL. She is also survived by a brother, Preston (Verna)Blanton in SC, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Memorial Services will be held in the Moosehaven Chapel on Wednesday, April 15 at 2:00 pm with Reverend Helen Taylor officiating. Please sign the family's online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com.
