CW04 Richard "Gunner" Coleman

CWO4 USN Ret. Richard “Dick” “Gunner” Lyle Coleman, 76, of Toledo, Ohio beloved husband of Judith Ann (Stahl) Coleman for 53 years, Passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on January 29, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida He was the son of the late Earl and Mabel Coleman. He was a star football player for Maumee High school before graduating and joining The United States Navy. He had an exemplary and decorated 26 year career where he rose from the ranks of enlisted to become a Chief Warrant Officer. He traveled the world and served aboard his favorite ship the USS Barry DD993 during Vietnam. After retiring from the navy he ended his working career as service manager for Sears Automotive in Orange Park He was a man of many talents and skills. He loved his wood shop and would spend hours building furniture and other projects as gifts for family and friends. He was a popular and gregarious man who loved to share stories of his world travels and days growing up on the family apple farm. He is survived by his wife Judy and his two sons Steven Richard Coleman (Melody) and Michael Clifford Coleman (Stephanie) Two grand daughters Kelsi Erin Coleman and Kate Marie Wise. He is also survived by his sister Marjorie Cox and his brother Thomas Earl Coleman (Patricia) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the patriarch of the Coleman family and will be missed by his family, friends, and especially his faithful dog Molly. A memorial service will be held at Broadus Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs, Florida on February 12th at 10am followed by burial with full military honors at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida at 1pm.
