Archie Harold Fleming, Sr., 77, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away February 4, 2016. He was born on January 28, 1939 in Big Rock, VA to parents Carter and Gertrude (Ramey) Fleming. Mr. Fleming was a Vietnam War Veteran and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis, retiring from the United States Marine Corps after 23 years of service to his country. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart during his tour of Vietnam and was a very successful USMC recruiter while stationed in Maryland. He owned the A.H. Fleming Trucking Company in Maryland and also worked in Hartford, MD for the Public Works Dept. He was a member of the VFW, the USMC/Vietnam Helicopter Association “Pop A Smoke” as well as the Ugly Angels Squadron. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jane Fleming; children, Vikkie Grote; Pamela Horne (John), Dena Hellmann (David) and Archie Fleming, Jr.; brother, Phillip Fleming; sisters, Rosalee Ward, Juanita Reeter and Rhonda Keene; grandchildren, Jessica Beans, Cheyenne Fleming, Jason Grote, Jane Grote, Charlene Fleming, William Fleming, Kyle Hellmann and Travis Fleming and great-grandchildren, Austin Grote, Aubrey Grote, Chloe Hellmann, Avery Grote, Caden Hellmann, Jenny Fleming and Marie Fleming. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. The family will receive friends in the chapel from 10:00 am until service time. Interment with full military honors will take place at 2:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
