CPO Robert L. "Bob" Peaslee

Peaslee, Robert L. CPO Robert L."Bob" Peaslee passed away in his home Tuesday, February 16th following a long battle with cancer. Bob was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 30, 1949. He spent his childhood growing up in Lamar, Missouri and graduated from High School in1968. Bob has resided for the last 27 years in Middleburg, Florida having retired from the United States Navy following 24 years of distinguished and decorated service. Following retirement from the United States Navy, Bob spent 16 years working for the United States Postal Service. Aviation Ordnanceman Chief Petty Officer Bob Peaslee began his naval career in 1968 after graduating from boot camp in San Diego, CA. He was assigned to the USS Bonne Homme Richard (CV/CVA-31). He then attended “Aviation Ordnanceman A” school training at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL. Subsequent assignments include NATTC Jacksonville, FL; NAVFAC NANA Okinawa; USS Coral Sea (CV-43); VA-303 NAS Alameda, CA; NAS Atlanta, GA; NARU NAS Alameda, CA; NAS Willow Grove, PA; RAIND Willow Grove, PA and finally VFA-203 NAS Cecil Field, FL. On January 31, 1992, Bob retired from the United States Navy and was transferred to the fleet reserve. His military awards include the Navy Achievement Medal - 2 Awards, the Navy Unit Commendation, the Meritorious Unit Commendation - 3 awards, the Navy Battle "E" Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal - 5 awards, the National Defense Service Medal - 2 awards, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal - 2 awards, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/1960's device, the Rifle Marksmanship Medal with Expert Device, and the Pistol Marksmanship Medal with Expert Device. Bob is survived by his devoted Wife of 32 years, Lynn Peaslee; Son: Michael Henderson of Orange Park, FL; Grandson: Derrick Henderson; Sisters: Rosalind Schlomann of Novinger, MO and Elaine Wood of Atchison, MO. He is also survived by his Mother in Law: June Rees of Middleburg, FL; His Loyal and Faithful Dogs: Finn and Molly, and his many friends in the community. Funeral services in celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Middleburg United Methodist Church, 3925 Main Street, Middleburg, Florida 32068 with Pastor Bryan Simpson presiding. Graveside services and interment of his ashes with full military honors will be held at 1 PM Monday, February 29, 2016 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
