Lamar Gilliland

Mr. James "Lamar" Gilliland, age 69, beloved husband of Susan Gilliland, passed away on March 9, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, FL after a yearlong battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Renee Duzan (Bryan); son, Jim Gilliland (Linda); stepdaughter, Andrea Hills (Rusty); stepdaughter, Sara Balde (Luke); stepdaughter, Jennifer Rogers (Cory); eight grandchildren, Jenny Masters (Tim), Lauren Duzan, Kyla Lundy, Douglas Gilliland, Joel Duzan, Tyler Hills, Ashley Hills, Alyssa Hills; and great-grandson Wayne Masters. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Petit (Keith); brother, Mike gilliland; and father- and mother-in-law Bert and Anita Poarch. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Wilma Gilliland; brother, Larry Gilliland; and great-granddaughter Justus Masters. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was an active member of the Green Cove Springs Church of Christ and loved helping with the youth activities at his church. He enjoyed working on cars, planes, and home improvement projects. He loved flying and had a great appreciation for vintage cars. He was a humble, happy, and hard-working man. He always wore a smile, even during tough times. He was a friend to many and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His life will be celebrated on April 9th at the Green Cove Springs Church of Christ. He will be laid to rest beside his parents at the Smyrna Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Center Road in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
