Austin M. Cadwell

April 2, 1927 — March 12, 2016

Austin Martin Cadwell was born April 2, 1927, in Winter Park, FL, to parents Irvin and Minnie Cadwell. As a teenager, he volunteered for service during World War II, proudly serving in the United States Navy (1945-1946). He was later retired from Sun Bank (SunTrust). During his retirement, Austin enjoyed playing the piano and organ, as well as directing music for many area churches. He was a naturally gifted musician and had a beautiful voice. On March 12, 2016, Austin joined his parents and siblings, Bertha Stansell, Lucy U. Goodrich, Annie L. Wilber, "Little" Mary Cadwell, John R. Cadwell, and Penny M. Hughes, as well as niece Katherine Goodrich Luck and nephews, James, Donald, and Leroy Wilber, and Brian Morris, on the front porch of his Heavenly home. Austin was loved by his fur baby Willow and by nieces and nephews Lucy Bernice Colley (Edward), Phenix City, AL; Irvin Goodrich (Joyce), JoAnn Wilber, Green Cove Springs, FL; Brenda Nelson, Centerville, TN; Cheryl Pugh, Groveland, FL; Glenna Morris, Lakeland, FL; Keith Morris and David Hughes, Winter Garden, FL; Peggy Outlaw, Melbourne, FL; Betty Jane Hasting, Lighthouse Point, FL; and Agnes Nall, Semmes, AL; as well as many great nieces and nephews and their families. He was also cherished by his dear neighbors and friends, including the drivers and staff of Clay Transit. A memorial service celebrating Austin's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church of Green Cove Springs with Pastor Mark Hults officiating. The family will receive guests from 10:00 am until service time. Military honors will be rendered at Spring Bank Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to First Presbyterian Church of GCS, Haven Hospice - Custead Care Center, or Clay Transit (fund for transportation of underprivileged senior citizens of Clay County).
