James “Jim” Russell, 80, of Jacksonville FL went to be with his Lord and Savior – April 17, 2016. Jim was born on May 15, 1935 in Evansville, IN. He was a 1954 graduate of Reitz High School where he played Varsity basketball and baseball.
Surviving Jim is his wife of 57 years – Stephanie. His son Terry Russell of Alpharetta GA and two daughters – Stacey (Michael) Holcomb of Charlotte, NC and Kelly (Dan) Hild of DeBary, FL. Five Grandchildren – James “JJ” (Abigail) Russell of Sylva, NC., Chad Russell of Alpharetta, GA., Tyler, Kelcey and Sarah Holcomb of Charlotte, NC. One Great Granddaughter – Elodie Ann Russell of Sylva, NC.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Frank Russell, Bill Russell, Robert Russell and Fred Russell and sisters Lucille Wessel, Betty Merkel and Clara Cross .
Jim was an active member of the Morocco Shrine Temple where he served as Arab Patrol Captain. He was an avid golfer, loved all sports – and was passionate about the Florida Gators “GO GATORS”!
He Lived, He Loved and He Laughed… A Humble and Kind man who led “A Life Well Played”.
