Raiford “Ray” Joseph Moody, 90, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009. He was born March 29, 1919 in Hawthorne, Florida to Joseph and Eva Moody. Ray proudly served in World War II in the U.S. Army and earned the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal while serving his country. He was a member of the American Legion on Hendricks Avenue. Ray is survived by sons Robert “Bob” Edward Moody (Wanda) and Bruce Allen Moody (Angela); daughters Kathy Wood and Linda Bielec (Hank); sister, Bessie Tompkins; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be in the chapel one hour prior to the service time. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11am in the Broadus-Raines Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Hall officiating Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Green Cove Springs, FL.
