Lucy U. Goodrich, of Green Cove Springs, FL died on Saturday, May 23, 2009 while at her daughter’s resident in Phenix City, AL. Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday May 30, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Gum Street, Green Cove Springs, FL with Dr. W. Hunter Camp II officiating. Burial will be held at Spring Bank Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2009 from 6-8 PM at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Mrs. Goodrich was born March 17, 1912 in Eastman County, GA to the late Irvin Martin Cadwell and Minnie Cadwell She lived in Winter Garden during her early years and moved to Green Cove Springs after marrying her husband, the late Julian S. Goodrich. Lucy, as she was known, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and loved by all who came in contact with her. At the time of her passing, not only was she the oldest living member of First Presbyterian Church, but also had the oldest active membership. She served her church as an Elder, taught Sunday school for the 4-6 yr. age group and always had chicken and rice for church dinners, not to mention those delicious cakes. She worked at various places over the years, such as the Novelty Shop, Rosenbush’s Drug Store, and the Furniture Store. She was preceded in death by a daughter Katherine Goodrich Luck. She is survived by her children Lucy B. Colley and husband Ed, Phenix City, AL, J. Irvin Goodrich and wife Joyce, Green Cove Springs, nine grand children, eleven great grand children and two great great grand children; a sister, Annie Wilber deceased and a brother, Austin Cadwell of Green Cove Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the building fund First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 277, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043.
