On May 19, 2016, Joyce Genice Robbins of Orange Park, Florida concluded her time here on earth and finished her race. She quietly battled brain cancer for 3 years before succumbing.
The daughter of Robert Glenn Robbins and Margery Price Robbins; Joyce was born in Selma, North Carolina on December 11, 1949. She is preceded in death by her loving parents and two brothers, Billy Eugene and Larry Glenn. Survived by her brother Robert Robbins (Dianne), Roy Robbins (Jill), sisters, Louise West (Josh; deceased) and Anne Mathis (Jimmy; deceased) 13 nieces and nephews, 23 great nieces and nephews, and 1 great, great niece.
Joyce loved the Lord. She would sing His praises everywhere. About the only thing she was serious about was her love and devotion to God. It was no laughing matter. Though nearly everything else was. She would cheerfully greet you with a smile and a nickname, it was her way. In fact, if she wasn’t busy talking, laughing or spouting short phrases in Spanish, she was singing! She definitely lived up to the JOY portion of her namesake. Choosing never to marry, she showered her family, especially nieces and nephews with more love and attention than ever imagined. She enjoyed playing games, tickling, pranking and most of all, laughing! She was often loud and unpredictable. She was the fun aunt and always the life of the party! She loved to laugh and bring joy to others. Joyce had a fierce devotion to her Lord and Savior.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Doctors Inlet Church of God located at 144 Old Jennings Road, Orange Park, FL 32065. Donations in her memory can be made to the Doctors Inlet Church of God Building Foundation.
