George Jeffrey "Jeff" Gionet

George Jeffrey “Jeff” Gionet passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Jeff leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Jeanne G. Forand Gionet; children, Jennifer Weatherly and Jeffrey Gionet; sisters, Mary Crawford and Silvia Gionet; brother, Joe Gionet and 7 grandchildren. Jeff was born into a large loving family, one of 7 children, on July 30, 1942. He later joined the US Navy and became a Vietnam Veteran. Jeff will be remembered, by all who crossed his path, for always having on his Boston Red Sox hat. He will also be remembered for his ability to go to places as a stranger and leave as a friend. He was a proud Navy Veteran and Red Sox fan. During his final days what stood out the most was his unwavering faith in God and devotion to his family. Jeff is joined in heaven by so many, including his parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and his beloved dog “Lucy”. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7190 Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003 with Father Donal Sullivan as Celebrant with a reception to follow. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors rendered.
