Dorothy Elaine Bierhorst

April 11, 1928 — June 21, 2016

Dorothy Elaine Bierhorst, 88, of Orange Park, Florida passed away June 21, 2016. She was born on April 11, 1928 in Malden, Massachusetts to parents, Charles and Phoebe (Mountain) Garland. Mrs. Bierhorst was a 30 year resident of Florida , a member of Grace Episcopal Church and she loved the Lord. She was a gifted pianist and faithful vocalist with her choir for over 50 years. Mrs. Bierhorst was a very strong woman who survived the Great Depression, served in the United States Navy and then went on to marry a Naval Officer. She is described by her family as being vivacious, generous, protective, loving and selfless. Mrs. Bierhorst was the last survivor of 16 children. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon W. Bierhorst and her siblings. Mrs. Bierhorst was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, David Paul Keating (Jean); daughter, Debra Susan Keating; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 10:00am at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
