Kathryn Blanche Rallis, 87, of Orange Park, Florida formerly of State College, PA passed away, on Friday, June 17, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the youngest of 13 children to David and Sadie Casper who all preceded her in death.
She was a loving wife of Charles Rallis and they enjoyed 67 happy years together until his passing on August 24, 2013. She is survived by their four children, Charles Rallis (wife, Joyce), Helen Mueller (husband, James), Chris Rallis (wife, Gloria) and Georgia Palin (husband, Jonas). She had 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
She worked side by side with her husband in every aspect of their lives. Whether it was catering, building a house, helping family members, entertaining or helping friends or working a job.
She had a strength and determination that carried her through the many challenges of this life and a humbleness that enabled her to put other’s needs ahead of her own. It was this tenacity and strength that enabled her to work as a waitress for many years, while studying to obtain a beautician’s license and nurse’s certificate. She also worked alongside her husband at Penn State University, and Erie Technological, where she retired.
She loved bowling and was in a league and won many trophies. She also enjoyed playing golf, hunting and thoroughly enjoyed dancing with her husband. They both shared a great love for football, especially Penn State. They were season ticket holders and supported home and away games until they moved to Florida in 2001. While in Pennsylvania she was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church where she served as treasurer. She was instrumental in establishing of the Greek Orthodox Church in Lemont, PA. Kathy was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years.
In 2010, Kathy joined Faith Ministries Church and was “Grandma” to many of the congregation. They all loved her very much and were regular welcomed visitors to her home, where she was quick to share a story, her advice and food. She was a gracious woman, always willing to listen and give an encouraging word to everyone and extend the love and compassion that could be felt and seen in her smile.
Kathy was the heart and soul of her family, a dedicated wife and mother, who was loved by all who knew her. She devoted herself to her family. She will surely be missed by all those who had the opportunity to know her, love her and share their life with her. Our lives were made more richer with her in it.
