Jeffery "Jeff" A. Kirst

Jeffery “Jeff” A. Kirst, 60, of Orange Park, FL, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009. He was born on February 22, 1949 in Covington, KY to parents, Jack and Rosemary Kirst. He enlisted in the United States Navy on November 13, 1969 and retired after 22 years of service and was a Vietnam War Veteran. Mr. Kirst was an active fisherman and gun enthusiast who loved to participate in muzzle loading shooting events. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #5968 and was the past-president of the Robinette Drive Civic Association. He was of the Catholic faith and was a devoted husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend who loved to grill out with friends and family, work with tools and make sure everything was “ship shape”. Mr. Kirst was preceded in death by his father, Jack Kirst and his brother, Anthony Kirst. He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Kirst; his wife of 25 years, Sharon Kirst; children, William J. Kirst (Victoria), Kathleen French (Jason), Bradford and Douglas Cavin; brothers, Nick, Tom, James, Peter and John Paul Kirst; sisters, Nancy Sterrett, Debbie Feinauer and Jennifer Kirst; and grandchildren, Jacob Stephen French, Hailey Nicole French and Aubrey Elizabeth Kirst. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Fleming Island. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Please sign the family’s online guest book at www.broadusraines.com.
