Sara George Geiger

October 24, 1908 — June 13, 2009

Sara George Geiger, 100, born October 24, 1908 to James W. and Adelle J. Stewart in Rome GA, passed away June 13, 2009. She moved to Green Cove Springs in 1922. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Clifford L. Geiger, Sr. Sara was a long time leader and member of the First United Methodist Church in Green Cove Springs, the Women’s Club, VIA, Clay County Historical Society and many other civic organizations. Sara worked for the Clay County Welfare Agency, Clay County Clerk of the Circuit Court, co-owned several retail stores with Clifford in Green Cove Springs, but was best known for her many years of dedication to Hickory Grove Cemetery. She was very involved in city and county government. Sara also enjoyed bridge, solitaire, traveling and “dark chocolate”. Sara is survived by her two sons, Clifford L. Jr., (Faye), Stewart Reid (Madeline); 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to offer special thanks to her caregiver and friend, Connie Jackson, as well as the nurses and aides at Cypress Village Healthcare Center, Jacksonville, FL. A visitation is scheduled 6-8 PM, Monday, June 15, 2009 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at First United Methodist Church with Rev.
