Roy Keith Childers, 83, of Fleming Island, FL, passed away July 21, 2016, following a brief illness. He was born on December 23, 1932 in Gaffney, South Carolina to Roy Erwin and Lillian (Blanton) Childers. Roy attended the University of South Carolina and honorably served in the United States Navy for 12 years. Mr. Childers lived in the Clay County area for over 50 years and was of the Protestant faith. His family says he was a “river rat” that enjoyed fishing and sailing on the St. Johns River. Mr. Childers could do just about anything and was a talented wood worker. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Henrietta Woods Childers; son, Charles Fink and daughter, Sharon Enzor.
Mr. Childers is survived by his sons, Roy Keith Childers, Jr. (Donna) and Richard Fink (Vera); son-in-law, Jerry Enzor; daughters, Sandy Williams (Jerome) and Etta Young (Harvey); daughter-in-law, Barbara Fink; sisters, Carolyn Jefferies, Norma Mace and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
