Dr. Alice J. "Rusty" Hines

Dr. Alice J. Hines (Rusty) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 8, 2009. She was born in the Bronx, NY, on May 3, 1924. She was the daughter of Joseph and Agnes Vallely Hines. Alice was a wonderful woman, loving mother, devoted educator, and giving grandmother. Alice was a retired teacher of Science and Physical Education in the Newark, NJ public school system. She was respected for her high expectation and diligence in helping her students in fulfilling their highest potential. Later in life she decided to pursue her doctorate degree in psychology. Through the years she loved traveling the World, bird watching, hiking, and loved playing with her dogs. She treasured her many friends that she met on life’s journey. In her later years she was reunited with her daughter, Wilma Hines Owen, and family. Alice has 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Her last years were spent under the care of her daughter, Wilma, and the Terrace. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at The First Presbyterian Church in Green Cove Springs at 11:00 am to celebrate the life of Alice J. Hines.
