Gilbert Crest Nowak

Gilbert C. Nowak, Sr, 74, went to be with the Lord, June 14, 2009. He was born to John and Hilda (Hanson) Nowak July 6, 1934 in Angelica, WI. He graduated from Oconto Falls High School in May of 1952 and joined the Navy in June of 1952. He was a submariner until May 1955. He went to work for North West Engineering, a crane manufacturing company in Sept 1955. Between the Navy and his job he traveled 3/4 around the world. He loved working on anything mechanical from large cranes to small engines. He moved to 3 different states with his job and settled in Green Cove Springs in 1993. He worked for the crane division of MD Moody until May of 2002 when he retired. He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Judith (Elliott-Rowell), his children, Guy (Leslie), JoAnn (Craig) Fischer, Denver, CO, Gilbert, Jr., Tomah, WI, Brian, Oklahoma City, OK, Terri (Jay) Bartholomew, Milwaukee, WI , Becky (Rick) Weid, Pulaski, WI.; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Reverend Herman Stahl and Reverend Tim Downing officiating.
