Kenneth L. Smith, 84, of Fleming Island, FL passed away September 8, 2016. He was born on October 15, 1931 in Holly, CO to parents McKinley and Ruth Smith. He had served in the U.S Army as an artillery officer during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Korean and War Veterans Battalion #424. Mr. Smith had taught at the University of Florida for over 25 years in the Dairy Science Dept and had moved to Fleming Island in 2003 from Ocala.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Smith; niece, Linda (nee’ Enders) Shaw (David); great-nephew, Marshall Shaw (Jessica); cousins, James Duck (Lorainne), JoAnn Duck Teter, Kelsey Duck Highfill, John Duck and Nancy Duck Smith; step-children, Blythe (nee’ Jeffrey) Libert, William A. Jeffrey and James F. Jeffrey; 5 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandson.
The committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. Military honors will be conferred.
