Carlene Matthews

Carlene Matthews, 75, of Middleburg, FL passed away October 6, 2016. She was born on September 8, 1941 in New Smyrna Beach, FL to the late, Carl Riley and Orieon Inez (Michael) Minton. Mrs. Matthews was a Clay County resident for over 50 years.  She and her husband owned Bob Matthews Plumbing in Orange Park for 30 years.  Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Eastern Star and active in the Clay County Shrine Club.  She enjoyed going to Las Vegas and on gambling cruises with her sister and family was so important to her.  Mrs. Matthews was most proud to be a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 55 years, Bob Matthews. Mrs. Matthews is survived by her daughters, Darlene Stringer, Carrie Ann Wilber (Chris) and Geraldine Faulkner (Greg); brother, Michael Minton (Marsha); sisters, Marion Dills and Nina Jane Frohock (Butch); grandchildren, John Hill II (Summer), Michelle Skoryna (Christian), Nancy Curran (Brian), Patrick Faulkner II (Angela), Destin Schmermund (Clint) and great-grandchildren, Kinsley Hill, Tripp Hill, Aniston Skoryna, Elizabeth Curran and Hudson Skoryna. The family will receive friends in the Broadus-Raines Chapel on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 11:00am in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Michael Minton officiating.
