Captain Hudson Bryan Price Medical Service corps, United States Navy, retired age 76, went home to be with his Lord on Friday July the 10, 2009. Son of Clyde and Effie May Price deceased. He was also predeceased by his brother Howard Price. He is survived by his older brother Jack Price (Bernice) of Timpson, TX. He is survived by his loving wife Mickey and his three children, Jack D. Price (Duan) Los Angeles, CA, Janet Cunningham (Rich) of Colleyville, TX, and Dr. Craig Price (Tamera) of Fleming Island, FL and seven grandchildren Caroline, Caley, Emily, Tori, Wyatt, Evelyn, and Casey. Bryan graduated high school at the age of 16 in San Angelo, TX and went to work in the Texas oil fields. His time in the oil fields supplied material for stories for many years. He joined the United States Navy in 1953. During his career he served aboard the USS Shields and the hospital ship USS Repose. Captain Price served at the naval regional medical centers in Jacksonville FL; Oakland, CA; and Camp Lejeune, NC, where he was assigned as Director, Administrative Services, and later as Executive Officer. He also served as Assistant Chief of Staff for Resources for Naval Medical Command, Southeast Region, at Jacksonville, FL. He was Commanding Officer, Naval Hospital, Cherry Point, NC, from April 1985 to July 1989. It was known as the “Best little hospital in the whole darn Navy”. He retired in Jacksonville, FL, July 1989 after 37 years of distinguished military service. Captain Price attended the Naval School of Hospital Administration in Bethesda, MA, and received his BA degree from George Washington University and his MPA from the University of San Francisco. Captain Price’s military awards include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, the Navy Commendation Medal with Gold Star, and the Navy Achievement Medal. Bryan and Mickey enjoyed their retirement years in Lake Asbury, South of Jacksonville. Bryan was an American Red Cross volunteer at the NAS pharmacy for many years, he served as a volunteer on various boards for Clay County and as a great believer in education he mentored many younger officers. In his retirement years he renewed his private pilot license and was one of the founding members of the original Jack NAS Flying Club. Bryan and Mickey were active members of Lake Asbury Baptist Church. Bryan loved serving the Lord as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, Stewardship, and treasurer of the Merry Makers. His gentle leadership and mentoring will be sorely missed by his children, church family and friends. The Price family will receive friends 10:00 am until 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Lake Asbury Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin with full military honors at 11:00 am.
