Frank Mitchell, 75, passed away at home painlessly, peacefully and surrounded by love on October 5, 2016. Frank was born in Miami into a family of adventurous pioneers and farmers, and he enjoyed the outdoors his entire life: farming, playing sports, coaching softball, camping, fishing, hunting and golfing. Frank was in the first graduating class from Southwest Senior High School, went on to graduate from the University of Miami, and then married his high school sweetheart, Susan. Before returning to the family farm, he worked at the Cape during the Apollo missions. Frank was the epitome of a family man. His siblings describe him as a loving, caring brother. His children, Mitch and Jenny, and grandchildren think they are the luckiest souls on Earth. Even the girls he coached in softball say he made a positive, lasting impression they carry with them today. Everyone who knew him will miss his constant smile and happy disposition. A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 22, 2016 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Following the service, at 4:00pm, the family will receive friends for a Champagne Toast at the Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club, 3670 Clubhouse Drive, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com.
