Theodore “Ted” G. Jordan, 87, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009. He was born on January 27, 1922 in Jacksonville, FL to parents, Theodor and Sofie Jordan. Mr. Jordan was a World War II Veteran, serving his country in the United States Army Air Corps. He had been a POW and a Purple Heart recipient during his military service. Mr. Jordan was the former owner of Ted Jordan Motors and was a member of the American Legion. He was a bowling fanatic and was a member of the 300 Club. He was a great fisherman and was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Jacksonville where he enjoyed singing in the choir. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Msgr. Harold F. Jordan and Ray Dennis Jordan. He is survived by his children, Maria Alvarez (David), Aimee Johnson (Julian), Lilli Moniot (Eugene), Teddy Paul Jordan and Wesley Davis; sisters, Beatrice Newsome and Joan Marie Nelson (Gene); grandchildren, Maria Knighton (Jack), Melissa Martin (Todd), Michael Alvarez (Katie), Allison Mall (Jeff), Trey Johnson (Andrea), Victoria Whitacre, Katherine Johnson, Alyssa Griner (John) and Michael Moniot and 16 great-grandchildren. A Vigil Service will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, July 27, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7190 Hwy. 17 So., Fleming Island with visitation following until 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Anthony Sebra as Celebrant. Military honors will be given at the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Assumption Catholic Church, 2403 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207.
