Leonard R. Mock

LCDR Leonard R Mock (USN, Ret.), 79, of Orange Park, FL passed away December 23, 2016. He was born in Clarkston, WA, on March 20, 1937, to Andrew Marion Mock, Sr. and Vera Allyn Dawson Mock.  Leonard was of the graduating class of 1955 Charles Francis Adams High School.  He was a member of FFA and served as their Vice President. He joined the United States Navy in August of 1955 and graduated from Hospital Corpsmen School in 1956. Leonard married the love of his life, Joanna on March 25, 1956. He attended nuclear power school and was the top of his class for radiation safety during 1961. In 1962, he was selected as instructor in medical safety around nuclear power plants surface fleet. Afterwards, he was commissioned as an Officer, stationed in New London, CT. Leonard has lived in the area for ten years coming from St. Helena Island, SC.  He loved to fish with his dad and brother, Donald, on the Snake River and then Lake Chapman for trout on the weekends. He also enjoyed camping and square dancing. He deeply loved his family and cherished his time spent with them.   Leonard is predeceased by his parents; grandfathers, William J. Mock and Joseph Dawson; sisters, Viola Mock and Elizabeth P. Shubert; brothers, William Mock and Andrew M. Mock, Jr., and his wife, Joanna L. Mock.  He is survived by his sons, Michael W. Mock (Maria) and Timothy P. Mock; daughters, Deborah A. Garmon and Patricia L. Hagan (Paul); brother, Donald Z. Mock (Rosemary) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.    The family will receive friends in the Broadus-Raines Chapel from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, December 29, 2016.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, December 30, 2016 at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 7268 Exline Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32222 with Pastor Greg Neal officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218 with military honors rendered.   Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com.
