James Floyd Banks, Sr., 90, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away January 16, 2017. He was born on June 8, 1926 in Lumpkin, GA to the late Charles Erasmus and Ida Clementine (Thrower) Banks. Mr. Banks was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he was the oldest deacon. He was noted for his wild hog hunting and known as “Hogman”. Mr. Banks was a proud WWII Navy Veteran and worked for Armour Food Company for 31 years. He loved playing the harmonica, being in the woods, on the river and church on Sunday. “My lifestyle is my best witness.” Mr. Banks is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy E. Tomlinson Banks; son, James Floyd Banks, Jr.; step-son, Leonard Earl Tomlinson; step-daughters, Sharon Arsenault and Elizabeth Perry; sister, Betty Bennett; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at their home, 1028 Leno Road, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043, on Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 117 E. Towles Ave, Palatka, FL 32177, on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00pm with Reverend Glenn Tillis officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at Decoy Cemetery.
