Paula Ann Commander Fretwell

Paula Ann Commander Fretwell, 83, of Fleming Island, FL passed away January 17, 2017. She was born in Lakeland, FL on May 16, 1933 to the late Paul Preston and Elsie Lee (Bethea) Commander.  Ms. Fretwell was a graduate of Leesburg High School, Stetson University, University of Florida and Rollins College.  She taught 3rd and 4th grade at Lady Lake Elementary before becoming the school librarian at Oak Park, Leesburg Middle West, Bryceville Elementary, Lake Asbury and Ridgeview Elementary.   Ms. Fretwell is survived by her daughters, Mary Louise Fretwell Hester (Judson) of Tallahassee, FL, Nancy Fretwell Mitchell (David) of Green Cove Springs, FL and Betty Ann Fretwell Anderson (Dale) of Leesburg, FL; grandchildren, Paul Hester, Pierce Hester, David Mitchell, Erin Mitchell Schmidt, Brittany Anderson, Scott Anderson and great-grandchild, Charles Schmidt.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00am in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Pastor Bobby Highsmith officiating.  Entombment will be on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at 1:30pm at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, FL with Pastor John Blake officiating.
