Lala Connell, 85, of Saint Johns, FL passed away February 1, 2017. She was born in Pensacola, FL on April 23, 1931 to the late Mamie (Paul) Fussel. Mrs. Connell was a resident of the area for 69 years coming from California and of the Protestant faith. She was a tremendous chef, enjoyed cooking seafood and shrimping. Mrs. Connell loved her cats, her “Hushpuppy” miniature pincher and music. She liked her hair and nails to be perfect, “Miss California” as her husband would say. It was paradise when she and her husband would enjoy sunsets on the river. She was a true lady, good sailor and great 1st mate. Mrs. Connell is survived by her husband of almost 65 years, Charles E. Connell and her dear friends, T.K. Hilton (Jane), Mark Harvey (Mimi) and Rick Key (Denise). A memorial service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Old St. Augustine Road Baptist Church, 13233 Old St. Augustine Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32258 with Dr. Harper Bumpers officiating and she will be inurned at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
