Louis Baker, Jr., 91, of Middleburg, FL, passed away March 16, 2017. He was born to parents Lewis and Minnie Lee (Chapman) Baker on October 23, 1925 in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Baker was a World War II veteran serving his country in the United States Navy. He was a Purple Heart recipient and dearly loved his country. Mr. Baker was a member of The Church of The Good Samaritan as well as Middleburg Masonic Lodge #107 where he was the past Worshipful Master. Mr. Baker enjoyed woodworking and especially metal working to showcase his artistic side.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Elizabeth B. Baker; his brothers, James Wesley Baker and Ernest Lee Baker and his sisters, Goldie Mae Anderson, Sylvia Massussi, Velta Olan Cox, Alice Angie Kohler and Edna Owanda Allen.
Survivors include his children, Elisabeth A. Summers (Steve Howe), Anita Lee Pergson (Robert) and Richard L. Baker (Diana K.); 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2108 Palmetto St, Middleburg, FL 32068. Graveside inurnment with military honors will be held at 2:30 pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
