Judith Ann "Abernethy" Brown died peacefully at Orange Park Medical Center on Friday, March 24, 2017 in Orange Park, FL at the age of 75. Judy is survived by her children Tammy and husband Jon Hatfield, Billy Simcoke, Robin Simcoke, and Amy Bollinger; grandchildren Heather Weaver, Joshua and Katie Gibbs, Elizabeth Cooper, and Easton Smith; great-grandchildren Autumn Weaver, Hunter Gibbs, Jordan Weaver, Cooper Gibbs, and Ellie Gibbs; brother and sister-in-law Morris and Georgia Abernethy; niece Candy Abernethy; and close loved ones Jan Miller, Jeff Moreno, and many others. She was born on June 30, 1941 in Jacksonville, FL to Hildred Elizabeth "Nonny" and Benjamin "Gil" Abernethy. She was a woman who lived her life with courage, strength, and determination and was never afraid to take a chance. She loved the beach, mountains, and her family more than life itself. She was a "Mimi" too many and not just by blood. In lieu of flowers she would ask that everyone perform a random act of kindness in her memory. That was the kind of mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that she was in life. She is deeply missed and our lives will never be the same, nor will our Christmas Eves. A memorial is scheduled for Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.broadusraines.com. Arrangements are under the care of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St., Green Cove Springs, FL 32043. (904) 284-4000
