Norma A. Nix at the age of 83 years, went home to be with our Lord on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 8:10 a.m. Norma was greeted by many family and friends including her parents and first borne grandson. She leaves behind her three loving children (Russell, Annie, Buddy), her daughter in law, grand-children, great grandchild, two brothers and a sister, many nieces, nephews and countless family and friends including those at Consulate. She was fixture at Consulate for 11 years. While there she was Ms. Consulate, resident president, mail-lady, greeter, friend and prayer partner. She was one of the first faces you would see when entering the lobby (a.k.a. her living room). She would be crocheting, reading her bible, having discussions with friends, feeding the fish, or watering the plants. She was loved by many and loved all. During bingo, she had her special chips and seat. From her seat, she could watch the whole room. From this vantage point, she could see the joy and excitement of her friends as they yelled 'BINGO". Norma was a kind women of few words. She prayed for friends, family and strangers daily. While going through her belongings we found page after page of prayer requests for the staff, friends and family. She also wrote letters, notes and poems to God. Here is one she wrote recently.... Today I asked God if I was loving him. I was so sad. I think I feel asleep. When I woke or I might have been dreaming, but I knew God was with me. I wasn't sad anymore. I could feel my heart beating faster, harder. I could feel every part of me. I thank God for the nearness and his love. Praise God for his loving kindness. My SOUL is well. Thank you for God. Thank you 'I AM'. Your loving daughter Norma. Our Mom was, is and will always be special. With that I must ask on my Mother's behalf, how about you my friend.... How is your SOUL? In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida at https://support.communityhospice.com/pages/ch2017/donate-now.
