James Pyles, 92, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009. He was born on March 31, 1917 in Farmington, WV to parents, William and Rebecka (Costeen) Pyles. Mr. Pyles had been in the maintenance department at Ohio Westland University and moved to the local area from Ohio in 1972. He had been the owner of Green Cove Springs first taxi service, City Taxi and operated a vegetable stand in Green Cove Springs as well. Mr. Pyles enjoyed fishing and watching wrestling and boxing. He was a member of Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Mr. Pyles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Thomas and son, Richard Pyles. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Malicia (Deel) Pyles; daughters, Carolyn Cornwell, Becky and husband Mike Miracle, Ruth Parker and companion Paul Walker of Green Cove Springs, FL, Delphine and husband Steve Danielson of St. Augustine, FL, Margaret Peacock of El Paso, TX, Polly and husband Eric Graham of Orange Park, FL and Christy and husband Michael of Fleming Island, FL; sister and brothers-in-law, Pheobe O’Quinn, Mary Mitchell, Martha Rice, Doshie Ratliff, Marlin Deel, Vadie Deel and Howard Deel; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends starting at 6:00 pm Friday, September 11, 2009 at Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Little Ruth Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders Terry Fuller, Doug McCarty and Albert Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Hamilton, Mike Miracle, Eric Graham, Michael Browskey, Bobby Langley and Paul Walker.
