J. Earl Grassel

Mr. J. Earl Grassel,82,beloved husband of Frances (Polly) Burgess Grassel for 52 years and loving father of Darrell A. Grassel passed away Thursday September 3, 2009. He was born in Wayne Michigan on September 20, 1926 to John and Anna Grassel. He was preceded in death by his parents: His siblings; Mary,Frank,Ella and Peter. He is survived by his wife Polly,son Darrell and daughter in law Laura. His surviving siblings are: Theresa,Katherine,Loretta,Wilbert from Michigan,Melvin from Ohio,Arthur from Alabama and many nieces and nephews extending to 4 generations. Earl was a member of the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses of Green Cove Springs FL. and was previously an elder for 40 years in Zion Illinois. He worked at Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn Michigan as a millwright in the 1940's and 1950's until he and Polly married in 1957. They moved to Chicago in 1959 and he worked for Tempel Steel as a machine repairman for 30 years and retired in 1989. He ultimately moved to Fleming Island Florida in 2004. He will be missed by his relatives and all his dear friends. A memorial service will be held at the 3698 Thunder Road Green Cove Springs Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Penny Farms Saturday Sept. 19 at 2:00 p.m. Please sign the family’s online register book at www.broadusraines.com.
