Norma Doris Larocque

Norma Doris Larocque, 80, of Fleming Island, Fl, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 29, 2009, with George, her devoted husband of 57 years, by her side. Mrs. Larocque was born on August 15, 1929 to Frederick Nelson and Gertrude Duckworth in Detroit, MI. Norma grew up in Pawtucket, RI where she attended the University of Rhode Island. She was the first group of eight students to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Mrs. Larocque lived in many countries such as Spain, France, The Netherlands, and Great Britain, where she met the Queen. Norma pursued many interests which included golfing, collecting Hummels and volunteer work. She is survived by her husband, George N. Larocque. Vigil service will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fleming Island. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday November 4, 2009 held at 11:30 a.m. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, presided by Father Donal Sullivan.
