Malcolm Currie “Kit” Carson died on the morning of Wednesday, November 18, 2009 and is with his Lord and Saviour in Paradise! Mr. Carson was born in Glasgow, Scotland on December 23, 1921 and returned several times to marvel at the beauty of his birthplace and spoke often of the sea, rugged coast, cliffs and peaks with thistle and heather canopied under a Scotland sky. Coming to America with his Christian parents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert John Carson, at the age of four, he was taught that the United States of America was the land of opportunity and religious freedom, which should be protected, a responsibility that he took very seriously. He accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Saviour at the age of nine demonstrating from that day forward a desire to become more like Jesus. He volunteered for military service in his junior year of high school in 1942 and proudly served in the United States Marines in World War II serving until 1945. Semper Fidelis! He was a charter member of Hyde Park Baptist Church for fifty seven years, a Christian servant who will be remembered by all as a gentleman and friend, always sharing encouragement with a smile. He was an amazing man and led a very fruitful life. He was a man of tremendous character/integrity, a dedicated father to his three children, a devoted follower of Christ and a tremendous entrepreneur-businessman as co-owner of Atlanta Classics Cars in Decatur, GA. Mr. Carson had accomplished much in the world’s eye but he remained humble and eager to share the love of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert John Carson, his brother Charles Carson, and sister Peggy Anderson. He was married to his sweetheart Doris Madeline Carson, his “Georgia Peach”, for forty six years and was a loving caregiver in her battle with Alzheimer’s from 1983 until her death in 1991. He later entered into marriage with Dorothy Merrell sharing his love for her until her death in 1996.
