John W. Daniels

John W. Daniels, 85, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away November 19, 2009. He was born on July 16, 1924 in Samson, AL to parents, Ardell and Bessie (Wise) Daniels. He was a World War II Veteran, serving his country in the United States Army. He had worked for Burlington Mills in Green Cove Springs and was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and being with his dogs. John was a descendant of the Florida Pioneer Families of DANIELS, VARNS, THOMAS, SULLIVANT, & DURRANCE , and of the Alabama Pioneer Families of WISE, CREECH, CARTER, & PHILLIPS. John was the jokester of the family with nothing giving him more pleasure than playing a prank on unsuspecting family & friends. He was of the Baptist faith. Predeceased by: Parents, Ardell & Bessie (Wise) Daniels; brothers: Frank Daniels, Cecil Daniels, & Ardell Daniels, Jr.; sisters: Sara Nell Daniels & Frances D. Chesser; Niece, Juanita W. Barrington; Nephew: Johnnie Daniels; Survived by, Companion: Juanita Cassels, 1 sister: Essie D. Wilson, 2 daughters: Faye Reddick, Jacksonville; Lynn D. Peeples (Clarence), GCS; 2 granddaughters: Whitney Reddick; Shellie Taylor (Whit) 4 great-grandchildren; Nieces: JoAnne Lafitte, Dallas, TX; Elaine C. Rhodes, GCS; Linda C. Pacetti, GCS Nephew: Eddie Chesser – Jacksonville Great-nieces: Deborah Callicott, Cynthia Hellard; Vickie Aldrich, Christine Chesser. Eileen Rhodes and MANY dear Cousins and extended family. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Broadus-Raines Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, November 23, 2009 at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. Joe Barrie officiating. Military honors will be given at the graveside service.
