Dorothy "Aunt Dot" Hartman

Dorothy “Aunt Dot” Hartman passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2009. Dorothy was born on July 30, 1909 in Philadelphia, PA. “Aunt Dot” as she was known by many was independent and devoted to her family. She experienced many of the changes in our world during her 100 years plus on this earth. “Aunt Dot” lived most of her life in rural Pennsylvania but moved to Florida in 1997 after the death of her loving husband, Roy, to live with her sister Claudia Ingaldi & brother-in-law Dominic Ingaldi. Dorothy was an avid gardener, loved the outdoors & wildlife. She was a skilled crocheter & donated many of her doilies to charitable functions. She was a devout Christian and a member of Orange Park Presbyterian Church. Dorothy was always full of life and had a great sense of humor. Being tiny in stature was part of her over-all charm. She was known for her little dances at family events & did the twist at her 100th birthday party. Aunt Dot “lived a good life”. She is survived by her sister, Claudia Ingaldi of Green Cove Springs, FL. Nieces Annette Engelman (John) of Green Cove Springs, FL, Audrey Myers of Orlando, FL, Theresa Fortner of Jonestown, PA, Margaret Culbert and Barbara Urnberger both of Lebanon, PA and a host of other cousins, 2nd cousins, great nieces and great nephews. “Aunt Dot” enjoyed loving relationships with many other members of her extended family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Claude & Margaret Matters; her sister, Violet Dooley and her loving husband of 68 years, Roy Hartman. A celebration of Dorothy’s 100 years of life will be held at Orange Park Presbyterian Church, 1905 Park Avenue Orange Park, FL on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 3:00 pm. An inurnment will take place at Salem’s Church Cemetery of Mt. Nebo in Jonestown, PA in the family plot at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida. “THANKS FOR THE BUGGY RIDE AUNT DOT”.
