Walter Moody Zeigler, 81, of St. Augustine, FL, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 6, 1928 in Flagler Beach, FL to parents, Joseph and Sadie Isaabelle Helmey Zeigler. Mr. Zeigler served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force and the United States Marine Corps. He was a retired carpenter and commercial fisherman. He also ran a produce route in the local area and his customers were like family to him. Mr. Zeigler loved fishing and spending time with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his step-father, Kenny Adams and his brother, Ralph Jackson Zeigler. Survivors include his wife, Alice M. Zeigler of St. Augustine, FL; son, Roger Dale Zeigler of St. Augustine, FL; daughters, Cindy Young of Callahan, FL, Lesa Jo Duncan of Jacksonville, FL and Lorrie Ann Briggs of Jacksonville, FL; brother, J.K. Zeigler of Orange Park, FL and sister, Betty Ann McDonald of St. Augustine, FL; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, November 29, 2009 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. H. Mark Nicholson officiating.
