Vernon Joseph Kennedy

Vernon Joseph Kennedy, 64, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009. He was born on December 16, 1944 in Ware, MA to parents, Raymond and Viola Kennedy. Vernon was raised in Jacksonville Beach area and has been a resident of Green Cove Springs for the past 25 years. Mr. Kennedy was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army and retired from Amtrak after 30 years of service, as a ticket agent. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Kennedy was a loving son, brother, husband and father who will be dearly missed by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his father Raymond W. Kennedy and brother, Charles Kennedy. He is survived by his mother Viola Kennedy, his loving wife, of 41 years, Sherry Kennedy; children, Kristine and Ryan Kennedy; brothers, William (Nancy) Kennedy and Earl (Jeannie) Kennedy; granddaughter, Kayleigh M. Williams. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 12, 2009 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with the Reverend Claude McEldowney officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the American Heart Association and the Earl B. Hadlow Center for the Caring.
