Mrs. Juanita Whitlock

Mrs. Juanita Whitlock, 82, of Middleburg, FL, passed away Monday, December 14, 2009. She fought the good fight and now she’s claimed the prize. Mrs. Whitlock was born on July 11, 1927 in Galatia, IL to parents, James Henry and Lily Mae Duncan. She was of the Southern Baptist faith and attended First Baptist Church of Orange Park. Juanita was a member of the Joy class at the church and enjoyed time she had with friends. She enjoyed reading, cooking and crafts and time spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Juanita had the wonderful talent of knowing what everyone needed to hear and expressed it in her writing cards and letters. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Arthur Whitlock, her brothers, Dow and Ralph Duncan and by her grandson, William Lee Whitlock. Survivors include her sons, Larry (Lynn) Whitlock of Naples, FL, Jim (Debbie) Whitlock of Fleming Island, FL and Lee (Denise) Whitlock of Gadsden, AL; daughters, Linda (Bob) Whitney and Laura Whitlock, all of Middleburg, FL; sisters, Delsie (Irvin) Bowling of Grapevine, TX and Otella Angel of Fleming Island, FL; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 17, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Orange Park with Reverend David Tarkington officiating. Visitation will begin in the church one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to The Terrace Activities Program, 1125 Fleming Plantation Blvd. Fleming Island, FL 32003.
