Donald "Don" Eugene Hammond

Mr. Donald “Don” Hammond of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Mr. Hammond was born on October 17, 1934 in Ocilla, GA to parents, William and Sarah Hammond, moving to Jacksonville in 1957 from Macon, GA and spending the last six and a half years in Green Cove Springs, FL. He was a member of Decoy Baptist Church, Green Cove Springs, FL and a thirty three year member of Palm Valley Baptist Church, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. In 1957, Don established and was owner/operator of Hammond Heating & Air, known today as Hammond Air Conditioning. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Don was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Hammond and a daughter, Donna Hammond. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Patsy Hammond; sons, Carson Hammond, of Green Cove Springs, FL, Michael Hammond of St. Augustine, FL, Brandon (Caroline) Hammond of Fleming Island, FL; daughters, Patricia (Jess) White of Green Cove Springs, FL and Tammy (Chip) Hammond of Keystone Heights, FL; brother, Robert Hammond of Gainesville, FL; sisters, Christine Williams of Bonaire, GA and Mary Henry of OK; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Decoy Baptist Church with Reverend Bobby Baker and Pastor Jeff Witt officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, December 18, 2009 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel.
