Bruce McDade

Bruce McDade, 84, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010. He was born March 15, 1925 in St. Andrews, FL to parents Arthur and Mary McDade. Mr. McDade moved his family here back in 1959 from Chipley, FL. While living here he found the Lord. He was baptized at Russell Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member, attending every week. Even during his illness his loyal daughter would sit by her father’s side reading his favorite passages from the Bible. In his spare time Bruce was an avid fisherman and loved long walks. He also enjoyed having cookouts and fish fry at his home, any excuse to get the family together. He is preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Mary Alice Hartzog McDade; his 3 little Indians, Joseph E. McDade "Gene", William C. McDade and Jeanie McDade "Cricket"; sister, Johnnie Hightower. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years Sadie M. McDade (Thacker); his 3 little Indians, Bruce J. McDade, Faye McDade Geiger (Bud) and Joe H. McDade (Debbie); brothers, Ernest McDade (Marie) and Terry McDade (Louise); sister, Mavis Brown; 14 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 24, 2010 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Russell Baptist Church with Reverend Ronnie Surrency and Reverend Ron Baker officiating.
