Viola Rose (Dunlap) Girard

Viola Rose (Dunlap) Girard - age 79, a long time resident of the Jacksonville area, passed peacefully on Feb. 28th, 2010 at Orange Park Family Medical Center. Viola was born on July 24, 1930 in Bennett Way, PA to Effie Belle (Regis) Dunlap and Eugene Hayes Dunlap. She was the manager of an Isaly Dairy in the late 1940's and early 1950's. Viola was a proud veteran, who served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps, in the early 1950's. She married Andrew Adelard Girard, Sr. in Feb. of 1954 and became a full time mother and housewife. She developed a career as a machinist at France Manufacturing in Westlake, OH in the 1960's and 1970's. Viola was a master crocheter and loved socializing with friends. She was a fan of American Idol and enjoyed attending the seasonal concert tour. Her smile was radiant and her laughter was infectious. She is predeceased by: Husband, Andrew Girard, Sr, both parents, brothers: Eugene Dunlap and wife Kitty of Miami Lakes, FL, Harry Dunlap and wife Albernice of Mineral Ridge, OH, Bill Dunlap and wife Joy, of Oregon, sisters: Tempa Bordy and husband Charles of Warren, OH and sister, Emna Adelia Manson of Niles, PA.; nephews: Gene Marshall, Gerry Houston, Timothy Dunlap, Harry Dunlap, Tom David Dunlap, and nieces: Bea Ellis and Elizabeth Ann Crider. Remaining to love and remember her forever are: son, Andrew Girard, Jr. and wife Griselda of Weaverville, NC, daughter, Jacqueline Girard of Jacksonville, FL, daughter, Brenda Markus and husband Scott Markus of Orange Park, FL, brother, Tom Dunlap and wife Gina of Girard, OH and Winter Haven, FL. Nine grandchildren: Andrew Girard III of Lorain, OH, Patrsy McEnroe of Chicago, IL, Shelly McLoud of Shallotte, NC, David Groomas of Weaverville, NC, Alexander Girard and wife Sereda of Weaverville, NC and Nicholas Girard and wife Katie of Asheville, NC, Jeffrey, Emily, and Sarah Jane Markus of Cleveland, OH. Seven great grandchildren: Andrea, Christopher, Larry, Marissa, Seth, Kaitlyn and Corbin.
