Russell Clifford Benson passed away March 5, 2010 in Orange Park, Fl at the age of 91. Russ was born to Carl and Gertrude Benson on August 5, 1918 in Chicago, IL. After graduating high school, he joined the Army on July 10, 1942. He was in the Medical Corp. for 4 years in 5 campaigns, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe, GO 33 and WD 45 and received campaign medals with 3 Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. Russ received an honorable discharge on October 29, 1945. Russ married Louise Goetzelmann in 1950 and she passed away on August 2, 1960. He then married Dorothy Wilson on August 10, 1962. Russ owned and operated Benson Metal Products, a tool and dye company. He retired in 1977 at the age of 59. Russ became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on July 29, 1957 when he joined the Apache Junction, AZ Lodge #2039. After he came to Moosehaven, he joined Moose Seminole, FL Legion #81 on September 12, 1993. Russ and Dorothy came to Moosehaven on April 20, 1993. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2000. After some time another lovely lady named Dorothy Gerba came to Moosehaven, and they fell in love and were married on October 12, 2002. Direct cremation with ashes spread at a later date. Russ is survived by his wife Dorothy, a resident of Moosehaven, Orange Park, FL, and his son, Clifford Benson of Morton Grove, IL.
