Alfred "Gene" Eugene Sellers

Alfred “Gene” Sellers, 79, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2010, in Jacksonville, FL. He was born in Tallassee, Alabama on February 10, 1931. Gene enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951 and served his country proudly during the Korean War era. Upon his discharge from the Navy in 1956 in Green Cove Springs, FL, Gene met his future wife, Barbara Smith. They were married three weeks later in Meridian, Mississippi, on November 21, 1956. Gene is survived by his wife of 53 years Barbara Sellers; daughter, Debra Newmans; son, Mark Sellers; grandchildren, Jeremy, David Cody, Rachel and Kimberly; great grandchildren, Kurt, Desire and Zakkary. He was a member of Christian Faith Center in Middleburg, FL, and he has a great love for the Lord Jesus Christ and is now enjoying his eternal rewards. Gene was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed many close relationships with family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Broadus-Raines Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, March 22, 2010 at Broadus-Raines Chapel, with Minister Mark Sellers and Minister Wendell Shaw officiating. Graveside service with military honors will follow at Penney Farms Cemetery in Penney Farms, FL. Please sign the family’s online register book at www.broadusraines.com.
